Colorado 2012: Special Package for Pianists with Dystonia July 18,
2012
Pianists with focal hand dystonia share
common habits of movement, posture, and mindset. When these are addressed,
their involuntary movements ameliorate or even disappear. Working together
intensively with others with dystonia is a perfect situation for understanding
those habits and learning to change them to healthy habits. Pianists with
dystonia who are on the same path toward wellness are also an invaluable source
of support for one another.
The Well-Balanced Pianist Director and Piano
Instructor Teresa Dybvig brings more than a
decade of experience working with pianists with dystonia to this session.
Adding her expertise is Aston-Patterning specialist
Judy Huston, who will help participants
develop the healthy postural habits crucial to turning dystonia
around.
This package includes:
- an overview of habits common to pianists
with dystonia
- 60 minutes of private lessons in partner
groups with Teresa Dybvig
- time all together for questions and
coaching
- practice time with or without
partners
- a one-hour class with Judy
Huston
- a lunchtime mindset discussion on mindset
habits common to pianist with dystonia
Fee:
$239.00
Please note:

each person will receive a lot of personal attention
- Special packages are only available to
those who attend the main program
- Registration for special packages is

From our
students We
asked our dystonia students to complete the sentence, "This workshop is for you
if..." This is what they said:
This workshop is for you
if... ...you don't want to
give up on the piano following a dystonia diagnosis.
...you are looking for a supportive community of
musicians who are dealing with the same issues that you
are.
...you want to regain
control of your hands without any drugs, only hard work.
...you have dreams of being a better, happier,
and freer pianist and are serious about trying to attain
them.
...you are looking for
a deeper understanding of the relationship between your body and the
piano.
...you are looking for
proactive solutions in overcoming dystonia. |
